It's all change at the
top following the annual general meeting of Galashiels Burns Club which
was held recently in the Royal British Legion Club. Sam Cleland has
succeeded John Purves as club president with Peter Croan elected as
vice-president. Robert Fairburn and Andrew Wayness were both re-elected
as secretary and treasurer respectively. Committee - John Purves, Bruce
Robertson, David Sanderson, Grant Lees, Jamie Hall, David Parker, Murray
Dickson. The meeting reflected on another successful annual supper which
was held at Gala Rugby Club on Friday,January 23. The speakers and
entertainers were top-drawer and everyone regarded it as a very
entertaining evening. The only disappointing note was a drop in ticket
sales reducing the profit figure for the Supper to just £58.Already the
club has an impressive list of speakers and entertainers in place for the
next annual supper which will take place at Gala Rugby Club on Friday,
January 22, 2027.
